Weekend Make-Up

Tuesday 26 July 2016

Singapore was the place to be last week with sightings of Vivy Yusof (@vivyyusof), Kat Von D and Aimee Song (@songofstyle)! I, on the other hand, had nothing really exciting happen to me except for the five (double) cheeseburgers I had from McDonald's because my tastebuds wanted some pickles, AND the four new liquid lipsticks that I don't really need but decided to spend on anyway! So I suppose, the lipstick effect is a pretty robust theory.

I got myself Jeffree Star's Velour Liquid Lipstick in Mannequin (LOVE LOVE LOVE!) and Rose Matter from my SIL (@fancydbyfii), and Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita and Lolita 2 from my sister who was in KL for a few days. (Yay, KVD is now available in Sephora Sg and My!)

Okay, so here's the low-down on my make-up last Sunday:

After my skincare routine, I used MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer in NC30 and Charlotte Tilbury's Air Brush Flawless Finish in 2 Medium on my forehead (because it's total zitville up there, thanks to my hormones and the junkfood that I inhale--yup stepping away from the cheeseburger). When I remember, I use the Erborian BB Creme all over my face before this step for an extra layer of SPF, but I forgot to use it that day. I've gone through so many concealers and bb creams but I always go back to these two.

For contour, I used the middle brown shade (ever so lightly) from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit in Medium, and went over it with the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder in Medium. That ABH Contour Kit is definitely a little dark for me but I'm still determined to make it work! Still not sure how to best use it though.

For blusher, I used the mauve-brown shade (top lefthand corner) from the Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Sugar & Spice that one of my best girls got me. I am obsessed with this colour. I've been using it everyday now... and I don't see myself stopping any time soon! And then to top it all off, I went over my blush with Hard Candy, highlighted my cheekbones with Mimosa, and my nose and cupid's bow with Crushed Pearl, all from Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Gleam.

I moved on to my brows using Benefit's Brow Zing in Dark (they've revamped their entire brow line and brought out new shades so I don't know what shade I am now), and then used the shade Buck from the Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette all over my eyelids. I did my usual wing using Maybelline's Hypersharp Wing Liner and used my current favourite mascara The Edgiest Up & Out Double Mascara! It has two wands--one for volume and another for lifting. I think this may be my favourite mascara of all time.

Then, I whipped out my new Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita 2 and fell head over heels with the colour. Oh, and I also added the lightest shade from the Charlotte Tilbury Fallen Angel Luxury Palette for my inner corner highlight, which I have to say, makes such a big difference! I never cared for it before... and I remember doing it for the first time during my graduation and my dad comes up to me and asks "what is that?" in a half-joking half-worried tone like his daughter had silver eye boogies.

Weekends are for dolling up without having to worry about beating the morning traffic. That's one reason why I adore my weekends so much. If only I loved taking it off the same way I love putting it on... am I right, ladies?
