How I Style: Hijab with Earrings

Monday 26 June 2017

A few people have asked me for this and I actually planned to post this up before Eid but time wasn't on my side unfortunately. So here I am.... a little late but here it goes!

You will need:

1. A good inner.
2. A pair of earrings.
3. 6 pins.
4. 2 safety pins.
5. A headscarf.

1. Your inner needs to be fitted; it cannot be loose unless you want it to migrate to the back of your head with hair creeping out from the sides. I like to use an inner that you tie above the back of your neck (talking about THESE kinds! Also shoutout to the girls who used to shop at Pearl Daisy in UK!), but that can be a bit tricky (you'll see why later on), so I'm using the dUCk Snowcap here to make it simple. This still works but it becomes loose after a while, so just make sure your hair's tied neatly.

2. I usually put my earrings on first, just so I can make sure the hijab doesn't cover it in the end.

3. Adjust the length of your hijab accordingly. I usually have one slightly (keyword: slightly) shorter than the other.

4. Take both sides to the back of your head. Make sure it's secure and tight. Lay one side on top of the other and pin it to your inner using a safety pin. (See, when I use an inner that you tie at the back... it gets a bit tricky to pin it down. But when I get past that hurdle, everything stays put and it moves a bit less than if I were to use the Snowcap.)

5. As usual, pin the smaller side to your inner using a safety pin.

6. Swing the longer side around your neck and pin both sides down. (Note that this isn't baby-proof cause it may prick your baby when you're carrying him/her, but it IS windproof haha so it depends on you really.)

7. To make sure it's extra secure, I pin it down everywhere and I mean everywhere! I always pin the scarf down behind my ears where my scarf makes a fold and on the edge of my inner to make sure it doesn't move around.

That's it! Quick and easy, right?

Okay, I better go catch up on some sleep. Today has been an odd day (I'll talk about it some other time) and tomorrow's rayaSelamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin, and Eid Mubarak to those celebrating!!! Have a wonderful time with your family and friends. Enjoy the long break, eat well and drive safe!

Love,
